Jambmaths question:
Find the minimum value of the function $f(\theta )=\frac{2}{3-\cos \theta }\text{ for }0\le \theta \le 2\pi $
Option A:
½
Option B:
$\tfrac{2}{3}$
Option C:
1
Option D:
2
Jamb Maths Solution:
The function$f(\theta )=\frac{2}{3-\cos \theta }$will have minimum value when 3 – cos θ has maximum value. This will occur when θ = 0o.
$f(0)=\frac{2}{3-\cos 0}=\frac{2}{3-1}=\frac{2}{2}=1$
The maximum value of $f(\theta )$is 1 (Option C)
