The distribution of colour of beads in a bowl is given above. What is the probability that a bead selected at random will be blue or white.
Option A:
$\tfrac{7}{15}$
Option B:
$\tfrac{2}{5}$
Option C:
$\tfrac{1}{3}$
Option D:
$\tfrac{1}{15}$
Jamb Maths Solution:
Total number of beads = 15
Probability of blue = $\tfrac{1}{15}$
Probability of white = $\tfrac{5}{15}$ =$\tfrac{1}{3}$
Prob (blue or white) = $\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{15}=\frac{6}{15}=\frac{2}{5}$
