$\begin{align} & \text{Let the total number of apple shared be }x \\ & \text{The sum of the ratio is }5+3+2=10 \\ & \text{The highest got } \\ & \frac{5}{10}\times x=40 \\ & x=\frac{40\times 10}{5}=80 \\ & \text{The total number of oranges shared is }80 \\ & \text{The smallest share is }\frac{2}{10}\times 80=16 \\\end{align}$
